Switching to the Single-user mode


A file in QuickBooks accessed by many while updating Payroll may prompt the error so an effective resolution, in that case, would be switching to the single-user mode. Simply, go to the File menu and then select ‘Single user mode’ to enable this. Try running the update now and you might have solved the problem. Ensuring the correct location of the mapped file


If the mapped location is different from the download location of the update, then you can get this error. Follow these steps to ensure correct location of the mapped file.


Step -1: Pres the F2 button and then copy the information on the mapped location and close this window.

Step -2: You should go to the ‘Help’ menu now and then click on ‘Update QuickBooks’.

Step -3: You have to go to the ‘Option’ tab now and check the location.

You have to check the ‘Shared Download’ and if it is marked ‘Yes’ then the download location must be same as this location. If otherwise, then switch the ‘Shared Download’ option to ‘No’.

Step -4: Click on the ‘Save’ button.


Remapping the drive to a new letter


If in the above step, mapped location drive was correct then follow these steps to implement remapping the drive to a new letter.

Step -1: Go to ‘This PC’ of your computer and then select the ‘Computer’ tab.

Step -2: Now choose the option ‘Map a network drive’.

Step -3: You have to select a drive letter that QuickBooks is not using currently. Press the ‘Browse’ button and select the location where QuickBooks Company file is stored and click ‘OK’.

Step -4: Press the ‘Finish’ button to complete the process.
